I think we all want our heroes, even those dead and gone, to see how much they mean to us. If we could, I’m sure every one of us would love to reach back in time, grab someone who influenced our lives, plop them down in the present and say, “LOOK. See how important you are to me? To everyone?! You are so special to us.”
So many of our heroes were unrecognized and ridiculed in their day, and Van Gogh was one of those heroes. No one saw his talent and beautiful works for what they really were. And to get a chance, even in fiction, to show someone we love just how amazing and important they are—that is a beautiful thing.
